Sound Design / Camera

Mike has been working on short films in his spare time for over 15 years.  His day job is working for a visualisation company creating 3D computer models used in sports broadcast as well as the art gallery and museum industries.  His true passion in life though is animation.  As a child he grew up not only watching the likes of Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse but also thanks to his Dad’s video recordings of the fantastic Fourmations TV series he got to see many fantastic films made by the likes of Jan Svankmajer and The Brothers Quay.  Ever since he has been in love with the magic of animation in all its many forms.

Mike’s Film Recommendations To See Before You Join The Afterlife:

1. The Awful Fate of Melpomenus Jones .  Because the idea of going mad and dying rather than being impolite seems perfectly reasonable to me and I will always have another cup of tea and more photographs.

2. My Neighbour Totorro. A catbus.

3. Harold and Maude. An amazing outlook on life, a phenomenally good soundtrack, striking similarities to my own life and Ruth Gordon is banging hot in this film.

4. Aliens.  Terrifying alien and the yellow power-loaders, also the first 18 certificate film I ever got to see which I found hugely exciting.

5. Little Otik – It is a fantastic surreal adventure from one of my favourite directors and one of the first dates I took my other half on was to see it in some weird little art-house cinema.  She was quite freaked out.

Mike’s Top 3 Songs To Listen To (Whilst You’re Still In This Life)

1. Video Games  - Lana Del Rey

2. Expectations  - Belle and Sebastian

3. Wave of Mutilation – The Pixies

Mike’s philosophy for a happy life:

Never let Christopher talk you in to something.

If he could ask any director one question it would be:

Hayao Miyazaki   -   Giz us a job.
